Team 26: Q-C-Connect led by Mr. Đào Trần Minh, an employee of FPT Japan, won the Second Prize at SEA Quantum Hackathon 2026, an international quantum computing competition within the framework of Gia Lai Quantum Year 2026. The competition gathered many teams from universities, research institutes and technology enterprises in Southeast Asia and worldwide.
In the competition, the team developed a solution applying Quantum Optical Reservoir Computing combined with traditional Machine Learning to analyze network traffic data, thereby detecting targeted cyber attacks and identifying Zero-day security vulnerabilities – attack forms that have never been identified before.
According to Mr. Minh, the highlight of the solution is the combination of classical machine learning models with quantum machine learning to improve data classification efficiency.

“This problem can still be handled with classical machine learning and statistical techniques. However, many studies show that quantum algorithms can classify data with high accuracy even when the number of qubits is limited. As quantum computing technology develops in the future, the application potential will be even broader,” Mr. Minh shared. He said the project targets information security – a field that requires processing large amounts of data and detecting previously unseen threats. The combination of AI with Quantum Computing is expected to open new approaches for early detection of cyber attacks and strengthen system protection capabilities.
SEA Quantum Hackathon 2026 is the first international quantum computing hackathon hosted in Vietnam. Launched in February 2026, the competition attracted over 500 talents from 30 countries. After preliminary rounds and a series of online trainings, participants took intensive courses to earn international certificates. The final round took place in Gia Lai at the end of July, featuring competition among nearly 20 outstanding teams from home and abroad.
In recent years, FPT has intensified investment in strategic technologies such as AI, semiconductors and quantum computing. The achievement at SEA Quantum Hackathon 2026 demonstrates the proactive stance of the FPT Japan team in accessing, researching and testing new technologies, contributing to the expansion of FPT’s technological capabilities in the global market.
